Google in November 2014, had disabled the default function of adding secondary domains to Google Apps free/standard accounts. The domains which are already added still works. Google Apps for work has this functionality working which cost you $5/user/month.
You have Google Apps Free account and you want to add domain into it? Don’t worry we have a workaround which enables you to add domains to your account.
Note: You must have less than 10 users (created) in your account in order to work this method.
Do it at your own risk, I have done it many a times successfully and I’m not liable if anything other than required happen.
Log in to you admin console.
Click on “Upgrade now” on the right side of admin console.
Fill up your details and click on “I accept! Upgrade my account“.
Now your account is upgraded to GApps for work, you can now start adding your domain(s).
Click on “More Controls” in the bottom of admin console and then on “Domains”.
Now add you domain(s) by clicking on “Add a domain or Domain alias” one by one, and click on not now when it asks for domain verification.
If after adding domains, a message appears like “We are sorry, but you do not have to access to Webmaster tools“, then do the following.
1- Click on “Users” and the on the Admin Users (which is logged in currently as super admin)
2- Scroll down and click on “Show more“.
3- Click on “More Google services enabled” and find “Google Webmaster tools” and click on it.
4- To the right where this “OFF” is written, click on three vertical dots and choose “ON for everyone”
5- Done, Now continue from where we left.
Know see that you have added domain(s). Go to “Billing” and click on three vertical dots as shown in the image(s) below, then on “Cancel Subscription“, tick on “Downgrade to Google Apps” and click on continue and accept.
Now you have downgraded to your original (state of) account. Its time to verify your domain using “TXT Records” or “File upload” method.
Go to “Domains” section again and click on “active domain“. Once your domains are verified, you will be able to create users on these domain.
Congratulations, you have successfully added your domain(s) to your account.
Note again: You must have less than 10 users (created) in your account in order to work this method.
